The Collection of HOPE App Terms and Conditions

Effective 15 October 2026  •  Version 1.2 These terms apply to the HOPE app on Android and iOS, including versions distributed through Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

Please read these terms before using HOPE. The app is provided by A Collection of Hope Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. By downloading or using the app, the adult user agrees to these terms. A parent or guardian should review them and supervise use by a child.

Terms at a glance

  • HOPE is a standalone painting app with its painting features available without an account.
  • Current painting and progression features are available without additional payment; some levels unlock through task and day progress.
  • The app is licensed for personal, non-commercial use on compatible Android and iOS devices, subject to applicable store usage rules.
  • Users keep the rights they have in their original paintings; HOPE and its built-in assets remain protected.
  • A parent or guardian should supervise photo selection and sharing by a child.
  • Later levels unlock only after both the displayed tasks and the required number of days are complete.

About these terms

These terms govern access to and use of the HOPE app on Android and iOS, including its painting tools, built-in creative content, level-progression system, saving and sharing functions, and updates that do not come with separate terms. The applicable terms of the store used to obtain the app also apply. For the iOS version, Apple’s applicable App Store terms and standard end-user licence agreement also apply. If mandatory consumer law gives the user additional rights, those rights are not affected.

Who may use the app

Adults may use the app themselves and may allow a child in their care to use it. The adult is responsible for deciding whether the app is suitable for the child, supervising any use of device photos or sharing tools, and ensuring that the device is used safely and in accordance with applicable device and store terms.

Access and cost

The current painting and progression features are available without an additional payment after the app is downloaded, but some levels and their content become available only through the task-and-day progression described below. The user is responsible for a compatible Android or iOS device, an internet connection where needed for downloading or updating the app, and any charges from the device, network or destination service they choose to use.

Levels, tasks and timed unlocking

Level 1 is available when the user starts. To unlock a later level, the user must both complete the tasks assigned to the current level and allow the required number of days to pass. The app may show task progress and day progress separately. The start date counts as day one, and the applicable task and day requirements are shown in the app.

All tasks for a level may be completed on the same day, but the next level will not unlock until the required day count has also been reached. A task is credited only when the relevant action is actually completed; merely selecting a tool, colour or activity may not count. Completed tasks are retained locally so progress can continue when the app is reopened.

Progress and elapsed-day calculations rely on information stored locally and on the device’s date. Deleting the app, clearing its data, replacing or resetting the device, changing device settings, or failing to restore a compatible backup may affect or reset progress. Users must not deliberately manipulate device settings or app data to bypass level requirements.

We may adjust level content, tasks, required days or unlock rules in a future update where reasonably necessary to improve, balance, maintain or secure the app. Any change will remain subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Licence to use HOPE

We grant the user a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use HOPE for personal, non-commercial purposes on compatible devices that the user owns or controls, subject to these terms and applicable store usage rules. The Android version may be used on compatible Android devices; the iOS version may be used on compatible Apple-branded devices as permitted by Apple’s usage rules. The app is licensed, not sold.

Acceptable use

The user must not:

  • copy, sell, sublicense, rent or commercially exploit the app or its separate built-in assets except where law expressly permits it;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify or attempt to discover the app’s source code, except to the limited extent that applicable law does not allow this restriction;
  • use the app to create, store or share material that is unlawful, abusive, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, harmful to children, or that infringes another person’s rights;
  • interfere with the app’s operation, security or integrity; or
  • misrepresent a connection with HOPE, us, Apple or Google.

Paintings and imported material

The user keeps any rights they already own in original paintings they create. We do not claim ownership of those original paintings. The user is responsible for making sure they have permission to use any photo, image, logo, character or other material imported into a painting and for checking that any shared result is lawful and appropriate.

The user may save or share personal, non-commercial paintings created with the app’s tools and built-in creative elements. This does not give the user ownership of, or permission to extract, resell or separately distribute, HOPE artwork, characters, stamps, branding, software or other built-in assets.

Our intellectual property

HOPE, its software, visual design, branding, characters, built-in artwork, sounds, text and other content are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by intellectual-property law. All rights not expressly granted in these terms are reserved.

Photos saving and sharing

Photo selection, saving and sharing occur only when the user chooses those actions and grants any permission requested by Android or iOS. Available controls may vary by device and operating-system version. The user controls the selected image and destination. When a painting is shared to another app, person or service, that destination’s terms and privacy practices apply. A parent or guardian should supervise these actions when a child uses the app.

Privacy and child safety

The HOPE App Privacy Policy applies to both Android and iOS and explains how the app handles information, including local task, day and level progress. The app does not require personal information for normal use. Users should avoid including private or identifying details in a painting that they intend to share.

Updates compatibility and availability

We may provide updates to improve, secure or change the app, including its levels, tasks and unlock rules. Compatibility can depend on the device and its Android or iOS version. Features, permissions and release timing may differ between platforms. We may change or discontinue features or the app where reasonably necessary, but we will not reduce rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We aim to keep HOPE working reliably, but we cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted or free from every error. Users should save important work and keep an appropriate backup where the device allows it.

Ending use

The user may stop using HOPE at any time by deleting the app. The licence granted by these terms ends if the user materially breaches these terms. Provisions concerning ownership, acceptable use, legal rights and governing law continue where they are intended to apply after use ends.

Legal rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing in these terms affects any mandatory consumer rights available under applicable law.

App store terms

For the iOS version obtained through Apple’s App Store, these terms are between the user and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for HOPE. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no responsibility for claims relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce the provisions that benefit them once the user accepts these terms. These Apple-specific provisions apply only to the iOS version.  For the Android version obtained through Google Play, the applicable Google Play terms also govern the user’s use of that store. HOPE is provided by A Collection of Hope Ltd; questions about the app should be directed to us using the contact details below.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to HOPE, law or security. The current version will be made available through the app and on the public terms page with a revised effective date. Continued use after an update means the updated terms apply, except where applicable law requires a different form of notice or consent.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction, which means a consumer may also be entitled to bring a claim in the courts of the country where they live.
