HOPE App Privacy Policy

Effective 15 October 2026  •  Version 1.2 This policy applies to the HOPE app on Android and iOS, including versions distributed through Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

A Collection of Hope Ltd is responsible for the HOPE app on Android and iOS. HOPE is a standalone creative painting experience. This policy explains how information is handled when the app is used.

Privacy at a glance

  • No account or sign-in is required.
  • The app does not collect names, email addresses, contact details or location data during normal use.
  • The app does not use advertising, behavioural tracking or third-party analytics.
  • Paintings and imported images remain on the device unless the user chooses to save or share them.
  • We do not sell personal information.
  • Level, task and day progress is stored locally on the device and is not sent to us.

Scope

This policy covers the HOPE app on Android and iOS, including its painting tools and level-progression system. It does not cover services operated independently by Apple, Google or a device provider, a destination app chosen through the device’s sharing interface, or another website or service that a user opens separately. Those providers apply their own privacy terms.

Information handled by the app

Information we do not collect

In normal use, the app does not send personal information or level progress to us. There is no user profile, account database or online user record. We do not receive the user’s name, age, email address, device location, contacts, paintings, task history or level progress from the app.

Paintings and local app data

Paintings, drawing actions and app preferences are processed locally on the device so the painting tools can work. We cannot view or retrieve that material. Local material stays on the device until the user deletes it, removes the app, or the operating system handles it as part of a device backup or restore.

Level progress and task records

To operate the level system, HOPE stores the current unlocked level, completed-task indicators, the actions needed to verify task completion, each level’s start date or day count, unlock status and related preferences locally on the device. This information is used only to display progress, prevent the same action being credited more than once, and decide when the next level is eligible to unlock.

HOPE uses the device’s date and calendar locally to calculate elapsed days. It does not use precise location, contacts or an online account for this purpose, and this progress is not sent to A Collection of Hope Ltd. Local progress may be lost or reset if the app is deleted, app data is cleared, the device is reset or replaced, or a device backup does not restore it.

Photos and sharing

If the user chooses an image from the device’s photo library or gallery for use in a painting, the app handles only the image selected or the access allowed by the user. If the user saves a painting to the device’s photos or gallery, the app writes that painting only after the user chooses the save action and grants any permission requested by Android or iOS.

If the user chooses Share, the device’s sharing interface displays available destinations. The item is sent only to the app or person selected by the user. HOPE does not receive a copy, but the selected destination may process it under its own privacy policy. A parent or guardian should supervise sharing by a child.

Permissions

HOPE asks for device access only when it is needed for a feature the user chooses, such as selecting an image or saving a painting. Permission can be refused or changed in the device’s Android or iOS settings, where available. The exact controls depend on the device and operating-system version. Refusing a permission may prevent that particular feature from working, but the core painting tools remain available.

Support messages

The app itself does not collect contact details. If an adult contacts us by email for support, we receive the email address, message and anything the sender chooses to include. We use it only to answer the request, protect the app and users, and comply with law. Our lawful bases may include our legitimate interests in providing support and our legal obligations. We retain support correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary and then delete or securely dispose of it. Please do not send sensitive information or a child’s personal information unless genuinely necessary.

Children’s privacy

HOPE is designed to provide a privacy-conscious creative experience for children and families. The app does not require children to provide personal information and does not include personalised advertising or behavioural tracking. Adults should supervise a child’s use of photo selection and sharing features and should check that a painting does not contain personal details before it is shared.

Sharing and transfers

We do not sell, rent or disclose app-user information because the app does not send that information to us. Apple, Google and device or operating-system providers may independently process information when their stores, services or devices are used, under their own privacy terms and the user’s settings. This is separate from information handled locally by HOPE. Communications providers may process adult support emails on our behalf. Any transfer of support information outside the United Kingdom is protected as required by applicable data-protection law.

Security

Paintings remain protected by the device owner’s security and backup settings. We apply reasonable organisational and technical measures to any support correspondence we receive.

Privacy rights

If we hold personal information from an adult’s support request, that person may have rights to request access, correction, deletion or restriction, and to object to certain processing. They may also withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis. To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify the request before acting.

People in the United Kingdom may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the opportunity to address the concern first.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The current version will be made available through the app and on the public privacy-policy page, with a revised effective date. If a future version changes how personal information is handled, we will update the policy before that change takes effect.
